Culture programme unveiled for World Police and Fire Games
The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL) for Northern Ireland has unveiled a programme of arts, entertainment and cultural events to run alongside the World Police and Fire Games.
DCAL Minister Caral Ni Chuilin said that the Summer Cultural programme would "present the best of our culture to the thousands of competitors, from 60 countries, who will be visiting for the World Police and Fire Games."
The programme features music, comedy, theatre, film and a range of other events including exhibitions, workshops and performances.
The World Police & Fire Games is a biennial event for serving and retired police, fire, prison and border security officers. The event is the third-largest international multi-sport event in the world and will be the largest ever sporting event to take place in Northern Ireland.
At the 2013 event, 56 sports will be held at 41 venues across Northern Ireland, with more than 7,000 competitors from 60 countries expected to take part.
The company, known as the 2013 World Police and Fire Games Limited was established in 2011 by DCAL as a way of delivering the games.
