Cambridge United Football Club (CUFC) has opened itself up to the possibility of a "complete takeover" after launching a search for fresh investment.

In a statement, the board of directors said that the Blue Square Bet Premier club could not sustain its existing level of expenditure given its current income. CUFC is now seeking investment to help develop young people and strengthen the first team; investment which it said could include a takeover.
