Deborah Carr launches first Beauty Guild-accredited saunamaster course in the UK
Holistic wellbeing educator Deborah Carr is launching the UK’s first Beauty Guild-accredited saunamaster training course.
Anada Spa and Wellness, a provider of sauna and thermal wellness training, will deliver training in both traditional and contemporary sauna rituals (such as Aufguss) to wellness professionals at spas and hospitality venues across the UK seeking to elevate their thermal offerings.
The course framework developed by Anada Spa and Wellness has met the criteria set by the Beauty Guild, with a focus on safety, cultural awareness and practical application.
The course aims to train staff to internationally recognised standards in the performance of heat therapy techniques and wellness ceremonies.
“This accreditation is the first step in recognising sauna practice as a professional discipline in the UK,” said Deborah Carr, founder of Anada Spa and Wellness.
“It’s not just about heat,” added Carr. “It’s about creating safe and transformative experiences that honour the traditions of sauna culture. Our goal is to establish sauna mastery as a respected and recognised profession.”
Foundation saunamaster course
The three-day foundation saunamaster qualification will certify students in Aufguss ceremonies. Theory classes will cover the basics of heat bathing cultures, the science and benefits of sauna, health and safety protocols, sauna ritual elements and the equipment required to host an Aufguss ceremony.
Practical sessions will offer an understanding of towel techniques (both classical and traditional towel waving routines), how to perform transitions for a smooth performance and how to create significant storytelling moments.
Demonstrations and explanations
Sauna masters that provide training for Anada Spa and Wellness demonstrated Aufguss ceremonies this week at the Spa Life UK convention at the Old Thorns Hotel and Spa Resort in Liphook.
Aufguss sauna masters Eliška Židek Blažková and Lucáš Lusak held sessions in the mornings on 23 and 24 June before the expo and conference programme. They provided suppliers and operators of spas with an insight into the rituals facilities in the UK could offer with the right training and saunas.
Carr will also lead a webinar for wellness professionals, spa operators and sauna venue owners on 9 July to give further insight into the course. Register for the event here.
