Demolition work starts at Vetch Field
Work has commenced on the demolition of Swansea's historic Vetch Field, which closed in 2005 after Swansea City Football Club relocated to the Liberty Stadium.
Cuddy Group has been appointed by Swansea Council to flatten the venue, after receiving a £700,000 grant from the Welsh Assembly Government to move forward regeneration plans. Swansea Council's head of economic regeneration and planning Phil Holmes said: "The Vetch will live long in the memory but the site is in a prime location to provide much-needed affordable housing and green space for this generation and beyond."
Meanwhile, Gwynedd Council has backed plans for a new superstore on the site of Bangor City Football Club's current Farrar Road stadium. The scheme - led by Deiniol Developments - will enable the Welsh Premier League club to move to a new ground at Nantporth.
