Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, US is to be the new home of one of Cedar Park's most popular thrill rides, Demon Drop.

The ride simulates a freefall from the top of a 10-storey-tall building, with passengers boarding four-person cars that move horizontally to the base of a 131ft-tall (40m) tower. The car then ascends to the top of the tower before moving forward into the drop area. After a brief pause, it then drops 60ft (18m) in under two seconds before entering a pull-out curve and being brought to a halt.

Demon Drop debuted in 1983 at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, and was built by Intamin in Switzerland for US$2.5m (£1.5m, 1.7m euro). It will remain at Cedar Point until the end of the 2009 operating season and replaces the existing Screamin' Swing Ride in the Charleston Circle area of the Knott's Berry Farm park. Installation is scheduled to commence at the beginning of January, with a projected opening date of the Memorial Day weekend in May.
