Dragons puts up good fight in sailing challenge
Dragons Health Clubs became the first health and fitness club chain to enter a team in the British Industry Sailing Challenge this month.
The company entered two teams in the competition, North Dragons and South Dragons, which is now in its 18th year.
The event sees crews of six race 37ft yachts around the Isle of Wight and takes around 20 hours to cover the 120-mile course.
While the North team had to retire after Martin Hainsworth, club manager at Dragons Milton Keynes, broke his ankle, the South team completed the race in 12th position. The event was won by Microsoft.
Tony Bishop, captain of the South crew and manager of Dragons Orpington, said: “Coming 12th is a great achievement as four of the crew have never sailed before – we will definitely be back next year.”
