Dubai Holding has announced a new-look structure for the board of directors at Jumeirah Group - its global luxury hospitality arm - in a bid to strengthen its corporate governance.
From 1 September, the board is to include former Virgin Group CEO Stephen Murphy as independent non-executive chair, along with two non-executive and two executive directors.
Ex-Hilton Group chief executive Sir David Michels, Dubai Holding chief operating officer Fadel Al Ali; and flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith will join Gerald Lawless on the board.
Lawless - currently executive chair at Jumeirah Group - has been named president and CEO in order to take a "more focused executive management role" and help push forward the group's growth.
Dubai Holding CEO Ahmad Bin Byat said: "The new structure is in line with Dubai Holding's strategic objectives implemented to further strengthen corporate governance.
"Jumeirah will immensely benefit from the rich experience and strong capability of the Board to capitalise on market opportunities under the leadership of Gerald Lawless."
Formed in 1997, Jumeirah Group currently has a presence in 12 countries and its openings this year have included its first European resort - Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa.
