Dundee Science Centre launches 3D Sensation
Dundee science centre, Sensation, has launched its new 3D theatre with a film which takes visitors on a journey to three of the world’s most environmentally troubled areas.
SOS Planet uses 3D technology and digital animation to immerse guests in the rainforests of Brazil, the wilds of the Arctic and the depths of the oceans.
The film has been created to highlight some of the issues facing the earth using a mixture of live footage and animation.
Throughout the Easter holidays, the film was supported by workshops in which visitors could find out what they can do to help conservation and the environment.
Creation of the film was supported by an Enhancement Grant from the Millennium Commission.
Paul Jennings, chief executive of Sensation, said: “This investment gives a whole new dimension to a visit to Sensation.
“The reaction by visitors has so far exceeded our expectations, with many saying they would come back just to see the film again.
“This investment further strengthens our displays and gives us a host of future marketing opportunities as we introduce new and exciting films throughout the year,” he said.
Sensation currently receives more than 70,000 visitors a year and has 63 exhibits designed to show that science is fun. The centre’s zones are themed around light, sound, position, touch, heat, taste and smell. Details: www.sensation.org.uk
