Sporta AGM to feature new leisure trust awards
Sporta, the national association of leisure and cultural trusts, has announced that its AGM in Bournemouth next month will be expanded to feature a brand new awards show recognising the achievements of members throughout the UK.
Taking place at the BH Live-operated Bournemouth Pavilion on Wednesday 11 May – hosted by BBC sports presenter Garry Richardson – the awards will celebrate outstanding achievements and highlight the difference leisure and cultural trusts and staff are making in their local communities.
“We’ve received more than 100 inspiring entries (across nine categories) for the awards, showing the diversity, innovation and impact of Sporta members working to promote, develop and support leisure and culture throughout the UK,” said Sporta CEO Brian Leonard.
“All entries will be celebrated as part of a wider campaign to demonstrate the distinctive capabilities of the trust model and the impact this has on local communities.”
Meanwhile, Sporta projects officer Andrew Woodcock told Health Club Management that the AGM will focus on the present and future landscape of trusts. He said it will include member presentations around integration into local communities; aligning to government priorities; improving local wellbeing; and the role of cultural services and projects.
