Members of the public now have the chance to embark on a hands-free walk 356m (1168ft) above the ground at the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada, following the opening of EdgeWalk.

The extreme attraction is one of the first of its kind to launch in North America and features full-circle walks on a 1.5m (5ft)-wide ledge around the top of the tower's main pod. Visitors will walk in groups of six around the top of the CN Tower, with the experience set to last a total of 1.5 hours. The outdoor walk element will last around 30 minutes.

Tickets cost CA$175 (£112, EUR128, US$183) at EdgeWalk, which will run - dependent on weather conditions - seasonally between May and October. Mark Laroche, the president and chief executive officer of tower owner and operator Canada Lands Company, has hailed the public opening of the new attraction.

"The public has shown that they are ready and eager to push their limits by taking part in Toronto's most exciting attraction in decades," said Laroche. CN Tower chief operating officer Jack Robinson added: "It's inspiring to see this attraction open to so much enthusiasm after years of planning and hard work."
