Edinburgh consultancy GYMetrix kicks off overseas expansion
GYMetrix – which uses wireless technology to measure gym equipment usage – is expanding its services overseas, with contracts underway and in the pipeline in the US and Europe.
Having just completed projects in the US for Healthworks and GYMit, GYMetrix has secured a contract to work with low-cost Spanish operator Viva Gym.
Viva Gym has 60,000 members across its 16 sites in Spain, and has asked GYMetrix to assess its new-build gym model, which will inform its roll-out to major Spanish cities over the next five years.
“It’s great to see the growth in the number of operators using hard data and facts to determine what their members want, rather than relying on guesswork or what equipment reps tell them,” says GYMetrix founder Rory McGown.
“It means they can deliver a better, more cost-effective service, resulting in happier customers – something we should all be striving for.”
To facilitate the expansion, Adam Bright has been appointed as analyst – responsible for both new and existing GYMetrix clients – to identify capacity demands in gyms and provide recommendations on the optimum mix of equipment. Bright’s remit will also involve the launch of a free app, which will allow operators to identify capacity shortages in their gyms.
