Budget health club operator Fitness4Less is to open a second Welsh facility, after property agent Christie + Co secured a site in Cardiff.

The 17,500sq ft (1,626sq m) property is located within the city's Landmark Place development on Churchill Way and will add to the club's inaugural Welsh club in Newport. Fitness4Less is to develop the new health club in partnership with Communications Commercial, with the fit out due to start ahead of its scheduled opening in the first quarter of 2011.

Emma Edwards, marketing director at Fitness4Less, said: "We are very excited to have secured an excellent location in the centre of Cardiff, cementing our profile in Wales' capital city. "We remain keen to acquire second clubs in both Bristol and Birmingham and our low cost fitness model continues to prove very popular. Our expansion plans will see us increasing the rollout of Fitness4Less clubs over the next two years."

In January, the health club operator appointed Christie + Co to advise on an acquisition and development programme that is to expand Fitness4Less' UK presence.
