English Heritage launches audio guides
English Heritage is set to launch audio and multimedia guide tours to visitors at 38 of its historic sites, including Stonehenge.
The XP-classic players – supplied by audio and multi-media company Antenna Audio – will be customised with the English Heritage logo.
Features will range from site information, images, videos and interviews to interactive games.
In 2006, new audio tour guides will be launched at Kenilworth Castle and Battle Abbey and devices currently used at 26 English Heritage sites will be updated. In 2007, 12 more sites will incorporate the audio guides.
Tracey Wahdan, visitor operations director for English Heritage in the south east, said: “The new audio guides will really enhance visitors’ enjoyment of our sites and will bring history to life in an imaginative and entertaining way.”
Last month, Antennae supplied the hand-held portable multimedia devices to Tate Britain and Tate Modern. Details: www.antennaaudio.com
