English museums to be boosted by £4.6m funding to help spur renovation and improvement work
Forty museums across England are to receive £4.6m worth of grants following an announcement made by Culture Minister Ed Vaizey.
Museums across the country are to receive funding boosts to help spur the development of exhibition space and aid renovation work.
The funding is being provided jointly by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Wolfson Foundation.
Some of the most prominent projects to receive funding include the Historic Royal Palaces, which is to receive £100,000 to refurbish The King’s State Apartments at Kensington Palace, while the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-Upon-Avon will be handed the same amount to improve its visitor experience.
The Wolfson Foundation is a charity established to award grants in order to help support and promote excellence in the fields of science and medicine, the arts and humanities, education and health and disability.
