Faulty ride leaves dozens trapped for more than four hours
More than 30 people were left trapped on a ride at Chessington World of Adventures in southwest London, England, hanging 20ft (6m) in the air after the ride suffered a mechanical malfunction.
Rameses Revenge, which is a topspin ride with two rows of people suspended above jets of water, suffered a technical fault that left 39 people locked into their seats for more than four hours until the fire service was able to rescue them.
No guests were injured during the incident, which saw the ride break around 30 seconds into its cycle.
In a statement, Chessington said that the automatic fail-safe system brought the ride to a controlled stop and that "experienced resort staff were on site immediately to assist with guest care." Chessington also apologised "for discomfort our guests experienced during the delay."
