First IHRSA scholarship goes to ClubSport’s Cogswell

The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) has announced that Jarod Cogswell, general manager of ClubSport Oregon, has been awarded the first John McCarthy Institute Merit Scholarship.

Established in 2006 through donations from industry founders and friends the scholarship, to be awarded annually, provides full tuition and a US$500 (£264, 400 euro) travel stipend to IHRSA’s Institute for Professional Club Management.

Selected from a group of six finalists, Cogswell has served as general manager of ClubSport Oregon since 1999, leading a team in turning a low-cost provider into a high-end fitness option with resort-style amenities and customer service.
