Tottenham Hotspur enhances CSR credentials with apprenticeship programme
Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur has launched a campaign to help improve the employment prospects of 100 local youngsters.
In partnership with the StubHub Foundation – which has donated £50,000 (US$71,368, €65,650) to the project – the club has established the Tottenham Hotspur Pre-Apprenticeship Scheme which will give 16 to 24 year-olds the “skills, knowledge and experience” to secure apprenticeships or future work.
Over the next two years, the 100 individuals will start 12-week placements which include a blend of hands-on experience at Tottenham’s community projects and classroom-based training led by Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s employment and skills team.
In the classroom, the participants will learn how to write personal statements, CV’s and best-practice interview techniques.
The Pre-Apprenticeship initiative is one of a few employment programmes delivered by the club which have created more than 3,000 jobs.
“Through projects like this and the support of partners such as the StubHub Foundation, we are able to ensure those living on our doorstep get the right kind of support they need to find a job,” said Tottenham Hotspur Foundation chief executive, Grant Cornwell MBE.
