Cardiff City Football Club (CCFC) and the University of Glamorgan (UG) have announced the launch of a football academy at the institution's Sport Park in Treforest, South Wales.

The npower Championship's academy caters for talented young players between seven- and 18- years old, with facilities including eight full-size pitches and a physiotherapy area.

CCFC chief executive Alan Whiteley said: "It is certainly reassuring to know that the future of our Academy is so promising and exciting.

"Together we have ensured that there is long-term stability for Youth Development, as well as pooling our resources to maximise the impressive provisions we can offer."
