Four Seasons prepares to launch "California Modern" residences in Los Angeles
Global luxury company Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is set to debut a 12-storey residence complex in the heart of Beverly Hills.
The soon-to-be-completed property, which is taking shape at 9000 W. 3rd Street – just minutes away from Rodeo Drive – will comprise 59 apartments along with a number of leisure facilities, including an IMAX private theatre Palais, a rooftop pool, and a 1,600 sq ft (148.6 sq m) fitness centre with private training rooms.
Planned by architecture firm CallisonRTKL and interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, the residences will be shaped to emulate the atmospheric "California Modern" style developed by Austrian-American architect Richard Neutra.
Neutra, one of Hollywood's most prolific architects, acquired fame in the 1920s and '30s for creating psychologically therapeutic bungalows with structural elements that blurred the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces, such as floor-to-ceiling windows, interior patios, and Arcadia doors.
In a statement, Bullard said that his vision for the building's interiors was "about creating a lifestyle that is the envy of the world – the sun, the views, the glamour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills".
Scheduled to open this fall, the residences will be the Four Seasons' first standalone private homes in North America.
