Funding boost for West Lothian sports
The Scottish Government is to invest £1.2m in grassroots sports facilities in West Lothian.
The monies will be split to fund two separate projects, with Fauldhouse Community Campus receiving £700,000, while Broxburn United Sports Club will receive £500,000
The £700,000 investment in Fauldhouse will fund an extensive refurbishment of the existing 1970s three-court sports hall and the upgrade of the 25m five lane swimming pool. Also planned is the creation of a new fitness suite and dance studio and two new changing rooms which will serve the existing 11-side pitch at the site.
The investment of £500,000 in Broxburn United Sports Club will help provide a third generation (3G) synthetic pitch and a 10-team changing room pavilion. The new pavilion will also house a clubroom, physio room, officials room, office and storage space.
Announcing the funding, sport minister Stewart Maxwell said the new facilities will provide a hub for community sports activity.
He said: “This investment will enable more people across West Lothian to access quality facilities, where they can enjoy the benefits of exercise and sport.
Councillor Peter Johnston, leader of West Lothian Council, added: “The projects at Fauldhouse and Broxburn will provide greatly improved facilities for local people which will allow them to take part and enjoy sporting activities.
