Goals Soccer Centres has revealed that Canada-based Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan now has until 11 June to either lodge a takeover bid or confirm its intent to acquire the business.

The pension fund had initially been given until 30 April under Rule 2.6(a) of the City Code Takeovers and Mergers to signal its interest in the five-a-side football facility operator.

Goals secured a 14-day extension from The Takeover Panel under Rule 2.6(c) after the 30 April deadline passed, which gave Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan until 5pm on 14 May.

However, an announcement as to whether the pension fund will be lodging a takeover offer has yet to be made and discussions are set to continue until the latest deadline of 11 June.

A spokesperson said: "The company remains in offer discussions with Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan which is currently reviewing information which has been made available to it, subject to strict terms of confidentiality, by the company."
