'Further research' for county cricket plans
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) board has approved the principles of a review of the county game's structure but is to carry out further consumer research this season.
Among recommendations from former International Cricket Council chair David Morgan in his report was a reduction in the number of County Championship matches.
However, Morgan's recommendations - which also included a return to 50-over cricket for the one-day competition - have been met with opposition from the county cricket circuit.
ECB chair Giles Clarke said: "While many of the recommendations will be implemented immediately, it is important that thorough consumer research and financial analysis is carried out on the detailed strategy."
Meanwhile, chief executive David Collier and managing director of the professional game Gordon Hollins will compile a financial plan to ensure the game's long-term sustainability.
