Galway’s Absolute Spa opens
The 2m euro (£1.39m, US$2.5m) Absolute Spa has opened in Galway, Ireland, at the city’s Courtyard by Marriott hotel.
Launched on 1 June, the 5,500sq ft (511sq m) Celtic-themed spa offers eight multi-purpose treatment rooms plus an Oxygen Room, a thermal suite, a lounge area, a male grooming area and male and female changing rooms.
Other facilities include a crystal therapy room, a spa bath, a sauna, a glass ice cave and heated relaxing loungers.
Absolute Spa worked closely with spa brand BABOR in order to develop its treatment menu, which focuses on clients’ physical and mental wellbeing. Therapies include facials, body massage, aromatic baths, ayurveda, mud wraps, sports therapy and lymph drainage.
Signature treatments include The Celtic Therapies Suite, which will incorporate a number of spa rituals combining ancient druidic practices with a client’s birthday. The treatment will involve wood smoking, oils, pressure point massage, aromatherapy, gem stones and crystals.
Joe Beardwood, MD of BABOR, said: “BABOR has partnered with Absolute Spa because we share a common belief in what makes a great spa. We have developed bespoke signature treatments to support the spa brand, developed rituals to give the spa a unique selling point and provided extensive training before the spa opens.”
Designed by BDS Architects, the interior of the spa was created via a holistic approach to design, playing on the use of natural light and materials such as wood, glass, stone and metal alongside neutral colours. Details: www.absolutespa.ie
