RSG Group has announced that Gerd Schaller, brother of the late founder, Rainer Schaller, will join the management team as the third CEO on 1 January 2025.

Schaller – a renowned conductor – will take over responsibility for the human resources and brand strategy departments and, together with existing joint CEOs, Hagen Wingertszahn and Dr Jobst Müller-Trimbusch, he will actively shape the future of RSG Group.

“The expansion of the management board was a step that we have been planning for a long time in order to sustainably align the company for the future,” says Schaller. “I am looking forward to contributing my experience and continuing the RSG Group's success story together with a strong team. Our task will be to further develop the company, implement innovative concepts and inspire people around the world.

“The RSG Group has always combined its roots with a clear focus on the future. It is an honour to be part of this team and to shape the future together with the management and employees.”

Schaller has extensive experience of the business from his involvement with RSG Group's Advisory Board. His close family ties and deep understanding of the company's values, corporate culture and strategic goals will enable him to integrate into the management team.

With three CEOs at the helm, the company plans to further develop key business areas such as digitalisation, expansion and customer concepts. In a statement, the RSG Group says the expansion of the management team reflects the company's long-term strategic planning and is a clear expression of its commitment to developing sustainable solutions and ensuring the long-term success of the RSG Group.

Founded in 1997, by Rainer Schaller, RSG Group has 900 locations across 10 brands, including Gold’s Gym, John Reed and McFit, which is currently rolling out a modernised brand. Including franchisees, it employs 10,000 people, with more than 4.5 million members in 30 countries.

Look out for the next issue of HCM, when CEO, Hagen Wingertszahn, talks about his biggest life lesson.
