WheelPower launches strategy-shaping survey for disability sport
WheelPower – the foundation which provides disabled people with opportunities to play sport – has launched a survey to discover what can help wheelchair users lead more active lives.
The Talk About Taking Part survey will ask the views of individuals who do not take part in sport, as well as those who are physically active. It aims to find out the extent to which wheelchair users take part in sport, as well as any barriers to participation.
The results of the survey will guide WheelPower’s strategy and put access and inclusion as a priority for national sporting bodies.
Chris Turner, WheelPower’s national sport director, said the research was “important in challenging sports bodies and retailers to provide more facilities for disabled people in the future”.
“Every response will help WheelPower work towards making wheelchair sport more accessible,” added Turner. “If you’re a wheelchair user, now’s the chance for you to talk about taking part and make your voice heard.”
Sport England senior disability manager Thomas Smith said: “This survey is a great opportunity for WheelPower to check in with its audience, and hear their views on sport and being active. Its finding will help WheelPower continue to offer its invaluable service and respond to new trends and behaviour.”
