Green light for Plymouth skate park plans
Plymouth City Council (PCC) has approved plans for the creation of a new skateboard park at the city's Central Park.
The new facility, which has been designed by Freestyle Skateparks together with local users, will replace one demolished last year to make way for the £46.5m Life Centre. Located between Central Park Leisure Pools and Alma Road, the skate park will be built in phases as and when more funding is made available.
The first £190,000 stage will focus mainly on street skating and will also see a multi-use games area provided. Later phases will feature specialist skate bowls. Work is due to begin in March and it is hoped the new skate park will open. However, the approval was given under delegated authority and could face further scrutiny.
