Haringey Council launches inclusive sport strategy

Haringey Council in North London has become the latest London council to take part in an inclusive sports initiative to help everyone to get active.
The 'Inclusive and Active 2' strategy - a part of legacy plans for the 2012 Games - commits councils to work closer with sports partners and stakeholders to improve sport and physical activity opportunities for disabled residents.
In Haringey, the focus will initially be on supporting clubs to offer more inclusive access and then later looking at ways to improve the variety and quality of coaching and sports on offer.
Councillor Richard Watson, Haringey Council cabinet member for Communities, said: "After watching the sensational sporting feats at the Paralympics I'm more enthusiastic than ever to make sure we are helping people of all abilities to take part in sport.
"Having a disability should not be a barrier to getting active and having fun and maybe preparing for sporting excellence in the future."
