Haringey Council unveils new tennis plan
Haringey Council has unveiled its new strategy, designed to increase the number of people participating in tennis and help to improve local facilities.
The launch of the authority's development plan has coincided with the opening of new tennis courts at the Albert Road Recreation Ground in Muswell Hill, which received a £300,000 Tennis Foundation grant. Six new courts, four mini-courts, basketball courts and floodlights have been installed at the venue, which were unveiled by former GB player Greg Rusedski and television presenter Sue Barker.
Meanwhile, Haringey Council's new tennis development strategy aims to raise standards, increase participation, develop better players and enhance coaching, as well as develop new facilities. Haringey Council cabinet member for adult and community services Dilek Dogus said: "Tennis is becoming more popular in the borough and we want to build on that potential, raise standards across the board and involve people from all communities."
