Hersheypark to launch new rollercoaster
Hersheypark - the amusement park in Hersey, Philadelphia, US - has announced that a new 200ft (61m) thrill ride is to be added next year at a cost of US$25m (£15.3m, EUR17.5m).
Skyrush will be the 12th rollercoaster to be unveiled at the theme park and will comprise train cars with two floored seats flanked by two floorless, winged outer seats. Climbing at a rate of 26ft (8m) a second before it leaves the station, the train will then plunge down an 85-degree descent and enter a series of four high-speed turns at 75mph (121kmph).
Skyrush - the third Intamin coaster at the park - will take guests over the Comet ride and Spring Creek before returning to the station. It will open for the 2012 season on 4 May 2012. A Hersheypark spokesperson said: "[Skyrush] promises to deliver the same high-intensity thrills that Park guests have come to expect from this renowned coaster manufacturer."
