Gymbox – the ‘New York-style’ health club – is to open its second site, on St Martins Lane, London.

The launch of the new £5m club on 29 November will mark the beginning of Gymbox’s plans to expand the group by another 10 gyms in the next three years.

The 21,000sq ft (1,950 sq m) facility – with Technogym resistance and cardio equipment and Life Fitness freeweights – occupies the space under St Martins Lane hotel which used to house the Lumière Cinema.

Unique classes offered include Gladiator Games, the Stiletto Workout and Bitch Boxing.

Fitness First had a majority holding in the first club – which opened in Holburn in 2003 – but has since been bought out by Gymbox management. Details: www.gymbox.co.uk
