UK to submit two nominations for World Heritage status

Scotland's Forth Bridge and Gorham's Cave Complex in Gibraltar have been recommended to go forward as the UK's latest nominations to receive World Heritage Site status.
Heritage minister John Penrose announced that the Forth Bridge has been invited to prepare its nomination for 2014, while the Gibraltar cave complex is to be put forward in 2015.
It follows the government's submission of a Tentative List of 11 sites to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) earlier this year.
After both sites have submitted their nominations, an 18-month process of scrutiny and evaluation by UNESCO and the International Council on Monuments and Sites will begin.
