Kalahari plans US$250m waterpark resort development in Texas
Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, which opened a US$350m (€316m, £224m) waterpark in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains last year, has announced plans for further expansion by establishing a park in Round Rock, Texas.
Kalahari, which also owns and operates waterparks in Wisconsin and Ohio, is planning a US$250m (€223.8m, £177.1m) African-themed waterpark and resort to include more than 1,000 bedrooms, a spa, fitness centre, restaurants and conference facilities.
The waterpark itself would cover 200,000sq ft (18,500sq m) and would be Kalahari’s first venture in the southwest of the US, and one of the largest waterparks in the region.
“We are incredibly excited to bring our authentically African resort experience to the Southwest for the first time,” said Todd Nelson, owner of Kalahari Resorts and Conventions.
“The city of Round Rock has been incredibly welcoming, and we look forward to finalising plans to officially become a part of this great community.”
