Nature spas join forces for retreat combining eastern and western therapies
Two wellness destinations located 6,000 miles apart will join forces next year in order to combine the best of eastern and western spa philosophies.
The Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary, located within an ancient forest on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand, and the Herb House Spa at the New Forest, UK, have agreed to collaborate for a mindfulness programme in May.
The partnership will see Kamalaya founders John and Karina Stewart, along with a handful of their therapists, take up a residency at Herb House for a series of two-day wellness retreats, designed to give guests ‘a taste of Kamalaya’.
The retreats will feature educational sessions on meditation, mindfulness and stress management, as well as treatments, personal mentoring and healthy cooking classes inspired by Thai culture.
Guests will also be offered early-morning yoga, pranayama breathing practices and forest walks.
“Inspired by their ancient forest surroundings and dedicated to natural wellbeing, both Kamalaya and Herb House share a passion for authentic, holistic treatments and ideologies that take inspiration from centuries of wellbeing tradition,” a spokesperson said.
The Herb House spa, located at the Lime Wood Hotel in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, opened in 2011. Designed by David Collins Studio, it includes eight single treatment rooms and a private double treatment room, as well as a steamroom and garden.
Earlier this year, Kamalaya received the Worldwide Health & Wellness Destination of the Year award at the World Spa & Wellness Awards.
