Koichi Takada's seafront residences to take inspiration from Indonesia's diverse landscapes
Sydney-based Japanese architect Koichi Takada has unveiled plans to design a nature-inspired seafront community in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The 9,000 sq m development, which is being spearheaded by real estate company Crown Group Holdings, will feature 2,000 apartments, a beach club, a marina, and a number of dining outlets.
Set to be housed in eight concrete high-rises, the residences, which Takada said would take cues from rice terraces, forests, and other topographical aspects of Java and New Guinea, will also boast a wealth of spa amenities, including an infinity swimming pool and a fitness centre.
"The residential towers will appear like an Indonesian archipelago that rises out of the sea," Takada commented.
He added: "Our design has parts that face the water and parts that face back to the city of Jakarta.
"In between, you have cascading terraced apartments and garden features interspersed with public and residential amenities."
Iwan Sunito, Crown Group's Indonesian CEO commented: "Inspired by the world's best – Sydney's famous Darling Harbour and Circular Quay – we will be the first to bring waterfront living to Jakarta."
The first set of apartments is scheduled to launch in 2024.
