Kumu Art Museum wins European Museum of the Year
Kumu Art Museum in Tallinn, Estonia, has won the European Museum of the Year Award.
The awards, which are in their 31st year, are organised by the European Museum Forum and were presented at the National Gallery in Dublin, Ireland.
Three other museums were also specially commended and received diplomas recognising their excellence: the Catharijneconvent Museum in Utrecht, the Netherlands; the Museum of Almeria, Almeria, Spain; and the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum in London.
The Micheletti Award, for most promising technical or industrial museum, went to The Science Museum at the University of Coimbra in Portugal.
The Svalbard Museum at Longyearbyen in Norway received the Council of Europe Award, which was presented at a separate ceremony in Strasbourg on 15 April.
The European Museum Forum is responsible to the European Museum Forum Trust, a UK-registered charity, and operates with the support of the Council of Europe.
