LTA confirms Paul Annacone's departure
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has announced that Paul Annacone, the head coach of British men's tennis, had relinquished his position two months early.
Annacone had been due to leave his role at the national governing body in November, having been appointed in 2006. However, the LTA said on 5 September that he had already left. LTA player director Steven Martens said: "Paul was always going to be moving on in November but we were aware we would need to keep it under constant review, to avoid any potential conflict of interest.
"I would like once again to thank Paul for all he has done for British tennis, and he leaves with our best wishes." According to the BBC, the New York, US-born 47-year-old was recently named as the new coach of world number two Roger Federer.
Annacone's departure comes a month after the LTA revealed that Tennis Foundation executive director Sue Mappin was to leave the post.
