Chester Council asks residents to shape sports strategy
Residents, clubs and local organisations are being asked for their views as Cheshire West and Chester Council launch a review of the area’s playing pitch provision.
The consultation will take into account all outdoor sports facilities in the area, including football, rugby, cricket, hockey and artificial pitch provision. The results will inform the council’s draft strategy, which will then shape its 10-year planning provision.
Councillor Louise Gittins, cabinet member for Culture, Leisure and Wellbeing, said the review would “serve as a key evidence base to inform future strategic planning and investment in sport and recreation facilities”.
“I would urge anyone with an interest in pitch provision to take the time to complete the questionnaire,” she added.
The consultation process is being managed by a steering group including council representatives, as well as representatives from Sport England, Active Cheshire and Brio Leisure. The formal consultation period runs until 5 April 2016.
