London to mark one year to 2012 Games

London mayor Boris Johnson has announced that Trafalgar Square is to be the location of a "unique ceremony" marking the one-year countdown to the 2012 Games on 27 July.

Broadcast live on BBC1, the event will be attended by the mayor; culture secretary Jeremy Hunt; and sport and Olympics minister Hugh Robertson. International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge and Sebastian Coe, chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee will also be in attendance.

The live broadcast ceremony will feature diver Tom Daley making first use of the pool at the Olympic Park's Aquatics Centre and the unveiling of the 2012 medal designs.
