Lord's pavilion extension on time and on budget
The extensive renovation of the pavilion at Lord’s cricket ground will be completed on schedule and on budget.
The £8.2m project was started at the end of the 2004 season and was finished in time for the first match of the 2005 season, with the MCC beating 2004 country championship winners, Warwickshire.
The refurbishment has included the restoration of the Long Room; construction of a new roof terrace; the comprehensive refurbishment of the players’ dressing rooms, including the installation of new interior and balcony seating; and the renewal of the building’s service infrastructure to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (including the installation of an extra lift).
Chief executive Roger Knight said: “The refurbishment of the pavilion has been a very complex – as well as expensive – project. We wanted to improve every aspect of the building and despite some delays late last year, I’m delighted that the project will be completed within our budget.
“The building looks better than at any time since it was first built. We’re proud to have restored this building to world-class status.” Details: www.lords.org
