Louth skatepark plans move forward
Plans for the development of a new skatepark in Louth, Lincolnshire, have taken a step forward after a local users' group met with the local authority.
Louth X Sports Group and representatives from East Lindsey District Council (ELDC) met to discuss what equipment the proposed facility would require, as well as how much funding would be needed. A number of proposals based on the group's vision for the skatepark will now be drawn up by a specialist design company, while funding opportunities are also being explored.
An initial site appraisal is also due to be carried out in order to find a suitable location for the facility. Yvonne Andrews of Louth X Sports Group said: "We know Louth needs an outdoor Skatepark. We also know that if we don't all work together this might never happen. There is still a long way to go but there is mutual agreement that an outdoor Skatepark would benefit Louth."
ELDC portfolio holder for leisure Adam Grist added: "This is about the council and community working together, using the expertise of the skaters and the funding knowledge of the district council to try and make this happen."
