MCC 'may regret' axing £400m Lord's plans
Sir John Major believes Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) "may come to regret" a decision to shelve a £400m redevelopment of Lord's cricket ground in favour of a phased revamp.
In a letter to MCC president Philip Hodson seen by The Daily Telegraph, the former Prime Minister was responding to claims in relation to why he had quit the MCC committee in December.
According to the newspaper, a letter to MCC members from Hodson suggested that Sir John stepped down as a result of his opposition to the announcement that the Vision for Lord's scheme would not go ahead.
Sir John said: "I did not resign over the decision to abandon the Vision for Lord's, even though I believe it is a serious mistake the club may come to regret. I resigned due to the manner in which this decision was reached."
