Man decapitated at UK theme park
A man was decapitated at a UK theme park in Milton Keynes on 10 May.
Details of the incident have only just emerged but, according to the BBC, the man, Hugh Dow from Newport Pagnell in Buckinghamshire, was killed instantly when the miniature train he was working on went under a bridge at Gulliver’s theme park in Milton Keynes.
The accident occured away from the areas that are accessed by the public and, as a result, visitors were not at risk in any way.
The park was closed immediately on 10 May and, as a mark of respect to his family, remained shut the following day after the accident.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out this week and an inquest into the death will open today (17 May).
Duncan Phillips, director of Gulliver's, said: "We would like to express our deepest sympathy for the family and friends following this tragic accident, which is unprecedented in our history. It has been a very traumatic and upsetting time for everyone who knew and worked with him."
A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive has confirmed that they will be investigating the incident, which could take several months to complete and are currently on-site to begin their enquiries at the theme park.
