Mayakobá spa to open in November
The Rosewood Mayakobá resort on Mexico’s Riviera Maya has announced that it will launch a spa this November.
Situated between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, the luxury Rosewood Mayakobá spa will be owned by the Texan-based company JMJ Development and managed by the Rosewood Hotels and Resorts group.
Designed by Spanish architects Casa and Jardin, the 17,000sq ft (1,580sq m) spa will be located on its own private island, centred on a cenote – a natural limestone pool fed by subterranean springs that flow throughout the Yucatan Peninsula. Accessed via a bridge called Puente del Balneario, the spa will boast 11 lagoon-side treatment rooms and eight spa suites.
Other spa facilities will include single-gender wet areas with plunge pools, steam grottos, saunas and experiential showers, a lap pool, an outdoor meditation platform for yoga, a herbal garden and a sand garden.
The spa menu will feature a range of therapeutic treatments using ingredients made from local plants such as the agave cactus and aloe. The spa is yet to confirm which product brand will be used in the treatments.
The Rosewood Mayakobá resort has a total of 128 suites overlooking either the resort’s lagoons or its white sand beaches, facing the Caribbean Sea.
