The Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA) is planning to build an 11,500sq m (123,785sq ft) mixed-use property adjacent to the proposed 100m-tall U2 Tower, near Dublin’s financial district.

The Britain Quay Development will feature leisure, commercial, arts and cultural facilities. The overall site area is nearly two acres, with 31,500sq m (340,000sq ft) of space.

The U2 Tower will mainly contain residential space, but will also be home to rock band U2’s recording studio, hence the name.

The development is part of the Grand Canal Dock area, which will also feature the Grand Canal Theatre, a five-star hotel and a public plaza called Grand Canal Square.

DDDA is currently looking for development companies to design, construct and finance the project.

Paul Maloney, chief executive of the DDDA, said: “The project presents an exciting opportunity to deliver a landmark development in the Docklands, which is at the forefront of local, national and international design innovation.”
