NLL reopens Scottish ice rink after £2.1m revamp
People in North Lanarkshire are being encouraged to get their skates on this weekend, as the ice rink at the Time Capsule in Coatbridge is reopening this evening, after three years.
The fun kicks off with a skating display from Russian ice skate performers at 5pm today and will be followed this weekend with a figure skating display, a junior ice hockey taster and skating lessons.
The £2.1m redevelopment of the ice rink has been funded by North Lanarkshire Council, North Lanarkshire Leisure (NLL), the sportscotland Lottery Fund and WREN.
Blane Dodds, chief executive of leisure trust, NLL says: “This is part of our continued aim to ensure that more people are more active more often, in particular encouraging children, young people and families to have fun, while improving their health and wellbeing at the same time.”
NLL’s 36,000 Access NL members will benefit from discounts and free skating at designated times.
