Winnipeg Football Club and financial services company Investors Group have confirmed a 12-year naming rights deal for a new stadium located at Canada's University of Manitoba.

Designed by Raymond SC Wan, the venue will be called Investors Group Field and will be the home of Winnipeg Blue Bombers, which competes in the Canadian Football League.

Manitoba Bisons, the representative team of the university, will also play matches at the new stadium. Entertainment events are also proposed at the venue when it opens in mid-2012.

Blue Bombers interim chief executive officer Ossama AbouZeid said: "Investors Group's desire to be such an important piece of our club's future makes this agreement extremely fulfilling."

Investors Group president and chief executive officer Murray Taylor added: "We look forward to Investors Group Field being a place where people will gather to enjoy sports, concerts and special events in a world-class facility."
