Woodhall Spa Museum reopens after refurbishment
The Cottage Museum in Woodhall Spa has reopened to the public following a complete refurbishment.
The project which cost £813,936 (US$1.23m, €950,000), has seen the museum transformed as old dilapidated outbuildings have been redeveloped to provide a community meeting room, a community archive, a temperature controlled artefacts store and a general store. The archive, will include more than 6,000 photographic images.
The project was funded by a £677,600 (US$1.02m, €791,000) grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, with additional funding coming from Lincolnshire County Council.
As part of the development, the museum's displays have also been redesigned. The rooms are laid out to provide several exhibitions - The Magic Lantern Room, Spa Town History, Wield Family Room, Woodhall Life and The War Years.
"I am immensely proud of the refurbishment and of the volunteers whose efforts have made this possible," said Jackie Goodall, museum chair.
The museum is continuing a partnership with East Lindsey District Council's Tourist Information office which will be located in the visitor reception, which will also house a small retail area.
