LivingWell aims at over-60s market
Health and fitness club operator LivingWell has launched a new membership for the over 60s in a bid to tap into the UK’s aging population.
Currently being piloted in seven clubs, the plusSixty membership offers members access to all club facilities from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday, when the clubs are at their quietest.
Some of the clubs involved in the pilot scheme are also introducing more classes designed for this age group, such as pilates, yoga and active 50s classes.
Membership fees vary from club to club depending on facilities, ranging from £29.50 to £35 per month with a £29 administration fee. Those who join for a two-year period will also receive a 10 per cent discount.
Upon joining, new members are given a personal lifestyle assessment and tailored health and fitness programme. Members can also receive advice from a dedicated medical advisory unit for further advice.
“Our members recognise both the social and physical benefits of exercise, and this is especially true for our more mature members,” said health and fitness director, Michael Clark
“Our aim is to provide a welcoming environment for our plusSixty members to relax and exercise in.”
