Havant Borough Council (HBC) has unveiled plans for the creation of a new adiZone in Hayling Island, Hampshire, which is due to open by the end of the summer.

Designed and developed by London 2012 kit supplier adidas, the new 625sq m (6,727sq ft) multi-sport outdoor gym will be located at Eastoke Corner and boast facilities inspired by Olympic and Paralympic events. The adiZone will include facilities for football, basketball, a tennis area, a climbing wall and an outdoor gym, as well as an space to be used for dance, aerobics and gymnastics.

Funding for the new venue has been provided by Hampshire County Council, development contributions and the Department for Children, Schools and Families, as well as adidas sponsorship. HBC portfolio holder for culture and community Andrew Lenaghan said: "To have secured this facility for the residents of the borough is a great achievement and I am sure that the community will take advantage of it and use it all year round."
