Help for Heroes (H4H) and the British Paralympic Association (BPA) have launched a new initiative to help injured service personnel - both serving and veteran - participate in sport.

Front Line to Start Line will see the organisations work on a number of schemes designed to enable service personnel to represent the UK in Paralympic sport or work within the sector.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by BPA CEO Tim Hollingsworth and head of Phoenix Battle Back at H4H, Martin Colclough, at the BT Paralympic World Cup.

The agreement outlines the areas in which the BPA and H4H will work together, supporting service personnel participating in the Ministry of Defence's Battle Back programme.

Hollingsworth said: "The Paralympic movement started when injured service personnel played competitive sport as part of their rehabilitation programme.

"This agreement is about providing support for the crucial next step for those servicemen and women today coming out of rehabilitation."

Hugh Robertson, minister for sport and the Olympics, added: "The Paralympics began in this country in 1948 to help servicemen injured in World War II, so this is a fantastic and appropriate initiative as London prepares to host the Games once again."
